This is The Amazing Race:

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race9/

The website is graphic-heavy, so if you're on dial up you might want to skip it.

In a nutshell, TAR is a reality show which is a race around the world for a million dollars. 12 teams of two people (who have an existing relationship, ie: mother/daughter or son, and the reverse, siblings, husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.)

They are not allowed to bring cell phones, money, credit cards, computers or any kind of electronic device which could "help" them. The show gives them a set amount of money at the beginning of each leg and pays for all airline tickets.

The cool thing about the race is the teams get clues and have to follow them to go places and then they have different tasks they have to perform while they're there. After they have performed these tasks they have to go to the "pit stop." The last team to arrive at the "pit stop" is eliminated (unless it's one of several non-elimination rounds, in which case they have to give up all their money and all of their possessions except their passports and the clothes on their backs.) Some of the tasks are things like bungee jumping, parachuting, riding camels in the desert, learning dances, etc.

The teams get more tired as the race goes on because they only get 12 hours inbetween arriving at and leaving the pits stop. And they have to grab sleep whenever they can.

It's an awesome show, and IMO, the best reality show on television.

I can't believe it's not showing over there.
