Worldcon report
Aug. 11th, 2005 06:33 pmOkay this is going to be short and concentrate on Potterish things and possibly name-dropping.
So, I went to the Glasogow in scotland last week and I:-
- Went to a Potter party that rocked. I spent about 40 minutes to an hour talking slash with a lovely girl I met them about two hours talking serious canon stuff and being the resident scary obsessive (in GoF it says x once so y can't happen, JKR said in an interview blah, etc.). It was great fun.
- Iain M. Banks read the quidditch world cup chapter from GoF in the kids programming and I went (originally it was Robert Rankin. And RR actually likes HP, whereas IMB is one of the many authors who vocally doesn't, I found this funny). It was followed by a dull discussion that I could have lead better, because the people didn't seem to realise they were talking to kids at a science fiction convention
- I had a Hugo down my cleavage, and played ringtoss with them. For those who don't know, the Hugos are sf achievements awards. They are shaped like big, silvercocks rockets. And this is just me showing off.
- I discussed werewolf rights with Terry Pratchett! Not in a hp setting, because I'm not insane, but still. We also discussed archery, sauce and paintballing, but that's not as cool as werewolf politics.
Okay, I did a hell of a lot more, but I douby most of that will be interesting to y'all, so I'll leave it there!
